Maela's story Why did you start volunteering with Trinity? While completing my Art Psychotherapy masters, I wanted to gain experience working with end-of-life and bereavement. When I discovered Trinity, I was immediately drawn to their compassionate, holistic approach to care. Can you explain a bit about what you do in your volunteer role? I provide one-to-one art therapy for bereaved individuals and inpatients. Alongside another wonderful trainee, I also co-facilitate a weekly art therapy group for community patients receiving end-of-life care. What do you enjoy the most about your role? I've loved working with people, patients, families, and staff. This experience has opened my eyes to the deep importance of community. From the very beginning, the Trinity team made me feel welcome. Conversations with staff and patients revealed such resilience and care, even in the face of difficulty. I’ve learned that palliative care is as much about living as it is about dying, and that has been truly transformational for me. What would you say to someone who is thinking about volunteering with Trinity? Do it, don’t think twice! Volunteering at Trinity has been such a rich and rewarding experience. I’m incredibly grateful to have been part of this amazing organisation. Manage Cookie Preferences
