Donor Charter

Trinity is committed to its donors and supporters and is dedicated to treating them with the highest level of care, sensitivity and respect.

Our Donor Charter assures donors and prospective donors of our integrity and accountability, as well as the commitment of our staff and Board to strive for the highest professional standards at all times.

As our donors and prospective donors, we promise to:

  1. Treat you in a fair, transparent, accurate and honest manner, ensuring that everything we do complies with applicable laws, the professional codes of fundraising ethics as detailed by the Fundraising Regulator in the Fundraising Code of Practice and guidance from the Institute of Fundraising and Charity Commission.

  1. Ensure all fundraising communications, including solicitations and stewardship reports , truthfully and accurately describe our activities and the intended and actual uses of donated funds.

  1. Give appropriate and timely acknowledgement, recognition and agreed publicity for your donation in accordance with your wishes, including treating any support as anonymous if requested.

  1. Observe the terms applicable to your donation and consult you if your donation cannot be used for its intended purpose.

  1. Keep you informed of the impact of your donation and Trinity's evolving needs and priorities.

  1. Respect your rights to privacy and confidentiality, and keep all donor records and database information secure. We take our donors' right to privacy very seriously and treat all personal information in a way compliant with the relevant data protection laws. Our Privacy Notice provides additional information on how we handle your data.

  1. Publish our financial accounts and annual review to ensure transparency about how our financial affairs are conducted.

  1. Only communicate with you in the way you ask us to when you set your communication preferences.

Fundraising Code of Practice

Our fundraising activity is monitored by the Fundraising Regulator, and we adhere to the standards as set out in the Fundraising Code of Practice.

The key principles of the Fundraising Code of Practice are:

Legal: Fundraising must meet the requirements of the law.

Open: Fundraisers must be clear about their processes and willing to explain them when necessary.

Honest: Fundraisers must act with integrity and must not mislead people when asking for donations.

Respectful: Fundraisers must respect the people and places they interact with.

For more information about the code and its application, visit the Fundraising Regulator www.fundraisingregulator.org.uk

Protecting vulnerable individuals

Trinity fully understands our responsibility to protect vulnerable individuals. We adhere to the Code of Fundraising Practice section 5.2 (subsections 5.2.1, 5.2.2, 5.2.3 and 5.2.4) in the Code, involving children and people in vulnerable circumstances section that fundraisers must:

  • have clear procedures in place to make sure fundraisers are aware of their safeguarding responsibilities towards themselves, potential donors and one another.

  • give appropriate consideration to the needs of existing or potential donors who may be in vulnerable circumstances or need extra care and support to make an informed decision.

  • make sure that fundraising activities are age-appropriate.

  • take all reasonable steps to avoid asking for regular donations and avoid any gambling activities, in person, via post or online, from anyone aged under 18 years of age.

  • return a donation if we discover that the donor could not make an informed decision at the time of making a donation.

and that fundraisers must not:

  • accept a donation if we know, or have reason to believe, that a person cannot make an informed decision to donate.

  • Unreasonably intrude on a person’s privacy.

  • Put undue pressure on a person to donate.

  • Use unreasonably persistent approaches and must accept a request to end an interaction.
