Glen's story Why did you start volunteering with Trinity? I am planning to change my career path from 'what I can do' to 'what I love to do' - facilities maintenance. I studied building service when I was young, and got some freelance jobs in playground maintenance as well as painting and plastering. However, I have found that it's still challenging to step into this industry when most of my background is office-based. It's been great to be able to gain experience and hands-on skills from volunteering with Trinity. It has also provided me with opportunities to expand my social network. Can you explain a bit about what you do in your volunteer role? I work night shifts in my paid role, so I volunteer one day a week with Trinity at present. I help with simple maintenance tasks such as varnishing outdoor wooden furniture like chairs and tables. I am looking forward to taking on some more tasks soon such as repainting the interior and exterior areas. What do you enjoy about your role? I was so impressed when the first time I visited Trinity. It’s enjoyable to volunteer here in such a peaceful vibe. It’s great to be able to use my skills to fix problems and to learn new things too. It's nice that the team at Trinity trust me and I never feel stressed about completing the assigned work. What would you say to someone who is thinking about volunteering with Trinity? You will gain more than you give from volunteering with Trinity. Everybody here is very nice and supportive. And don't forget to enjoy the coffee in the Trinity café!
