Practical support for friends, families and carers

Dealing with all the practicalities of adjusting to your family member or friend's life-limiting illness can be stressful. Caring for your loved one may at times be difficult and overwhelming.

Welfare benefits clinic

If you are worried about money and how your caring role might affect your finances, especially if you find you need to give up paid work and/or have gained additional expenses, you can talk things through with us.

Our Welfare Benefits Advisor can provide you with information and advice about the benefits and other financial assistance that you may be entitled to and help you to apply. This support includes income and disability benefits, Council Tax benefits, discounts and exemption, Housing Benefit and Concessionary travel (Disabled Parking badge, Taxicard, Freedom Passes). Our advisor can also help you with financial concerns, tenancy queries, homelessness, Wills and Lasting Power of Attorney.

Our Welfare and Benefits Advisor runs a clinic on Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons. To book an appointment, please contact us on 020 7787 1062 or rth.refer[email protected].

Carers' clinic

The Carers clinic offers carers a space to bring any challenge they are facing. The clinic led by a Trinity nurse and Social Worker, who can answer any social-or health-related questions in the session. Often carers prefer not to ask sensitive medical questions or open up about how they are feeling emotionally when the person who they are caring for is nearby.

Carers can be referred to the Carers clinic by a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Heath Care Assistant, Palliative Care Assistant or Doctor working for Trinity. Prior to attending the clinic, carers will be asked to complete a simple assessment in order to make best use of their clinic session. Sessions last up to an hour can take place either face to face at the hospice or on MS Teams.
