On 28 March 2026, an extraordinary father-daughter duo, Will and Lexi, are taking on Everest Base Camp, one of the world’s most demanding and awe‑inspiring adventures.

This is a huge physical and mental challenge and will be an amazing achievement. But for Will and Lexi, this challenge is about far more than mountains and miles. Every step has a reason.

In memory of Paul

Will and Lexi are taking on this remarkable journey in memory of Paul, a much‑loved Father and Grandfather. Paul spent 7 weeks at Royal Trinity Hospice following a pancreatic cancer diagnosis and died earlier this year. During that time, he received round the clock care, and his family was able to stay with him 24 hours a day.

“We’re doing this in memory of Paul and to support Royal Trinity Hospice, who cared for him and supported our family with kindness and dignity. Every step will be a reminder of why we’re doing this: to remember Paul, to celebrate his life and to help ensure other families are able to receive the same kindness and care.”

For them, this trek is more than a personal achievement. It is a loving tribute.

A love for nature

Hiking has always been a central part of their relationship. Despite being only 11 years old, Lexi already has an impressive list of achievements, having taken on Snowdon, Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis and Pen Y Fan over the past five years.

Will, too, has travelled the world, taking on challenges such as Mont Blanc, Mount Etna, Mount Toubkal and Mera Peak. Trekking isn’t just a pastime for them; it’s part of who they are.

To them, the mountains have always been a place for challenge, reflection and perspective. That’s why taking on Everest Base Camp felt like the only way to honour Paul in a way that was true to their family.

A challenge that means so much to Trinity

We’re deeply touched that we could support Paul's family during such a difficult time and were there when it mattered most. This story is truly inspiring, and we’re incredibly grateful to Will and Lexi for their commitment to raising funds and taking on this challenge to support us.

Fundraising challenges like this mean the world to our community. Every year, more than 3,500 patients, carers, family members and friends turn to Trinity for support. We're there from the moment you need us, providing expert clinical care, emotional support, and guidance during the hardest of times.

We must raise £13 million each year to supplement NHS funding, so we can continue offering outstanding care, completely free of charge. Every donation helps to ensure others in our community receive the same comfort, dignity and support that Paul and his family experienced.
