Fundraising rules and regulations Any fundraising undertaken in aid of Royal Trinity Hospice must follow standards which are set out in a Code of Practice, overseen by the Fundraising Regulator. There are 4 core values which underpin the Code: Legal: All fundraising must meet the requirements of the law. Open: Fundraisers must be clear about their processes and willing to explain them when necessary. Honest: Fundraisers must act with integrity and must not mislead people when asking for donations. Respectful: Fundraisers must respect the people and places they interact with. Holding a raffle One of the most popular ways to raise money at fundraising events is a raffle. You may not be aware that a raffle is regarded as a type of lottery which means there are strict rules which have been set by the Gambling Commission which MUST be followed. The key things to know from the outset are: Selling raffle tickets during an event, is classed as an incidental lottery and does not need a licence. Tickets must be sold on the premises, and the draw must happen during the event. If you’re planning to sell raffle tickets in advance or outside of the event, you’ll need to register as a small society lottery with your local authority. Your tickets must include: Our name and registered charity number The time, date and location of the draw Description of prize or prizes Ticket price Manage Cookie Preferences
